Description

Watertown is a suburb of Boston that was founded in the early 1600s. While parts of the town were split and took on new names, much of the original historical feel remains. Perhaps best known for its vast pastures and fertile land, Watertown made a great home for early settlers. The community even had some ties to the Revolutionary War, and served as a meeting place for locals. Another era that took the town of Watertown by storm is the Industrial Revolution. This caused a boom in population, which in turn lead to more local businesses forming such as restaurants, bakeries and shops. This sense of community and charm can still be felt in Watertown today.

Charlestown is the oldest neighborhood in Boston; it was originally laid out in 1629 in the reign of Charles I of England and it was the first capital of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Charlestown is also very well known for being where Paul Revere began his famous midnight ride before the battle of Lexington in the American Revolution. Other historical points in Charlestown are the Bunker Hill Monument, which marks the first major battle of the American Revolution, and the USS Constitution, which is docked in the Charlestown navy yard and is the oldest warship in the world still afloat.
